Dr. B has been wonderful over the years. I started coming when my middle son was 5 years old, and when I came in it was love at first sight. They were so kind to my kids, and very cordial, and very accommodating. And he was very nice and engaging. And so we’ve been here ever since, and that’s been 22 years.
So, I just absolutely love it. The staff and all. After my son finished his braces, and we had a little extra discretionary money, Dr. B was telling me about Invisalign. I had seen it but hadn’t really thought that much about it. I just wasn’t sure if it would work for me at first. But he assured me that he would work with me slowly, and if there were any issues or any problems that I could just easily decide not to do it. But everything went well, and I’ve just enjoyed having the freedom and not having the silver braces.
So it’s been helpful, especially for me. Every time I come back I can see a difference as I change from one set of Invisalign to the next. I really enjoy the fact that it’s not encumbering in my life, and the freedom and the flexibility I have to use them when I need to. And I don’t have to all the time, but just keep a minimum number of hours per day I use the Invisalign, like when I get ready to go to bed at night, wake up in the morning, I can take them out or use them until I need to do something during the day.

I love coming here because it’s like coming home. I mean, I really feel like I’m coming here for a Sunday party or something with my family because I’ve been coming since I was a teenager and have brought my kids since they were 3 years old. We come in here and everybody’s so friendly and relaxed, and it’s just a great environment, even when we have stressful situations with children with things that they need to have done or different things like that. Everybody makes it fun and entertaining. It’s just a good atmosphere.
As a teenager, we were referred to an orthodontist and I had braces, my brother had braces. And over time, if you don’t wear a retainer, things shift. As an adult, I was having issues with some gum recession and some different things, and so Dr. Blankenship made the recommendation to try braces again. I did that and my mouth has felt great, I’ve had no issues. Dr. Blankenship really encouraged it because if not, I would have had some dental issues further down the road, so it was really a precautionary thing to try to head off some gum recession and different things that would have been more of an issue as opposed to just a cosmetic thing.
It has made a huge difference. It’s given me a lot more confidence with my smile, as well as no pain. To me, that’s a win-win. It’s always nice to be able to refer people to somewhere that you are confident is going to do a good job with the professionalism and what needs to be done in that industry.

There’s so many reasons I love this practice. It’s almost like family. The times that I’ve been here, I’ve had root canals, I’ve had major construction work on my teeth, and every time I’ve been, it’s been just a pleasure.
I’m a diabetic, and I’ve had problems with dentists before that really didn’t want to work on me because I was a diabetic, but I never had any trouble at all with Doc B.
I had terrible teeth, and actually, they were knocked out playing football in my younger days, and I lost my smile. I don’t … I’d always close my lips when I’m talking, but now, I can smile. I feel relaxed. I know I’ve got a great-looking mouth, teeth, and it’s just made such a difference in the way I feel, the way I look, my attitude about getting out and actually talking to people. Where before, you know, I’d be kind of backing off a little bit because I’d feel kind of nervous about it because of the way my teeth looked.
But now, I’m happy, I’m smiling. And he made a new man of me.

Well, I started coming to the practice many years ago when he purchased the practice of a dentist I was going to. Of course I dreaded changing dentists, but as soon as I met Dr. Blankenship, I was comfortable. I had three boys, and when Dr. Blankenship started his practice, of course we came as a family. My children have grown up in this. Then they have brought their children, and I remember the day that I shared with the staff here that I was going to have a grandbaby. Well, (my daughter’s) getting married next month, so she came her whole life to Dr. Blankenship.
It’s comfortable, people are friendly, and I just think it’s a family atmosphere. The crowns I had put on in the 60s, metal showed. They had a metal back, and that showed every time I smiled, to the point that the granddaughter that I spoke of, I remember when she was about 3, she said, “Nana, why are your teeth black?” Oh, broke my heart, so it was something I wanted to do for a long time, but it’s expensive. Finally I saved money and planned ahead to have them done, and Dr. Blankenship did these crowns, six of them. When he placed them, I couldn’t believe how awesome they looked compared to the old ones, and I think they look very natural, and that makes you happy. It’s paid off because I feel very comfortable.
I remember thinking people are nice, they’re not going to say, “Oh, you got rid of your ugly crowns.” But I have had friends just comment on how pretty my teeth were. Then I just say, “Thank you.”

Obviously, as a child, I went where my parents took me, and they were with a practice that was a friend of theirs, and Dr. Blankenship bought the practice, and so my parents just kept coming here because they really loved what he was doing with the practice.
So we kept coming, and after I went to college, you sort of go to different dentists wherever you are, and when I moved back to Atlanta, there was no place else I really wanted to go, just because of the comfort level that was here, and the history that I had here, and there’s just a real personal relationship that I have felt, and my children have just progressed into that as well.
They kind of come in and they kind of act like they own the place, and that’s good. And then we are like, “Everybody quiet,” because we’ve got a … it’s still a business, but everybody here is just laid back, and friendly, and it’s really like family.
I know with the addition of Dr. Jordan, my daughter really connected with her. She had to have some dental work done and was a little bit difficult to work with in the past, and she just really connected with Jordan and has said, “I don’t want to hurt Dr. Blankenship’s feelings, but I really like Jordan.” I said, “You will not hurt his feelings. Let’s just get the dental work done.” So really, if you think about it, a dentist is probably the most frequently seen doctor, at least for me it is, and for my children, because we come every six months.
So to me, you need to like who you’re seeing, you need to be able to trust that they’re doing the right thing and doing a good job. And my grandmother came to them, and she was diagnosed with oral cancer. They actually caught something in her mouth. They sent her to a specialist, and she ended up having major reconstructive surgery. And really, if he hadn’t have caught it, it could have gone … and you don’t know what direction it would have gone. But she was able to have some comfort in the last years of her life with things being fixed that might have been missed otherwise, that would have caused bigger problems.
So I have confidence knowing that as we move ahead into the older years, those kind of things will be looked at, and make sure we’ve got a healthy mouth.
