Start Good Oral Health Habits Early

The best way to have a healthy smile is to develop good habits. This includes:

  • Brushing teeth twice per day
  • Flossing teeth every day
  • Getting professional cleanings and exams a few times per year

We want to help you help your children. To that end, we do everything we can to make your child’s first dental visit a pleasant experience.

We understand that this is a milestone for your little one and for you as a parent. This first appointment should be a happy visit for your child, for you, and for our team.

We welcome children 2 years and older at our practice. During this initial visit, we have a few things we want to do:

  • Show your child around the office and show them special equipment that we use to care for healthy mouths
  • Count their child’s teeth rather than conducting a formal exam
  • Teach them how to put toothpaste on a brush and the proper technique for brushing their teeth
  • Answer any questions that you or your little one have

When children are closer to 3 years old, their dental visits will be more like a standard cleaning. By easing your kids into what to expect, they are more likely to understand that we are here to help them as they get older.

Addressing Special Needs

Every patient is different. We also recognize that some loved ones require a more careful and more considered approach during dental visits.

Our own Dr. Jordan Blankenship-Sniker is hospital certified and able to provide general anesthesia if needed. This allows us to provide no-stress dental care by making sure your loved one is asleep as we perform cleanings, exams, and other services.
