Find Out How Clear Aligners Can Improve Your Life
Dr. B: One of the neater things that’s come down the road here in the last 20 years is a product called Invisalign. It is a series of clear plastic trays that allows you to move teeth, just like the orthodontist does with wires and brackets. But unlike the wires and brackets, you can remove these trays to eat, to speak. If you’re going on a date, you have a business meeting, you can take these things out, and you don’t have to be very conscious about it. They serve a wide variety of purposes. They solve a tremendous number of problems, but also be aware they’re not the one thing that solves all problems. I’ve been doing Invisaligns for probably 15 years now. They’re wonderful for moving that one tooth that’s out of whack, but they’re also wonderful for moving overlapped teeth, moving spaced teeth closer together to eliminate spaces. They’re fantastic for businesspeople that just don’t want to be tied down to wires and brackets. And they’re actually pretty comfortable when you get down to it. There’s very little discomfort involved in it. The technology that they use to make this happen is tremendous. It’s all done with CAT-scanned impressions, it’s done with computer modeling. You pretty much know what your end point’s going to look like before you even get started. I’ve been excited about it for a long time. The company that makes Invisalign keeps coming out with new twists and greater applications for it, so for me it’s an evolving type of a thing. The patients that we’ve done this on, I’ve never had one that came back and said, ‟I wish I never did it.” Their comment is, ‟I really wish I’d done this earlier.”
